Hanmer Springs is a cute town on the South Island of New Zealand. We went to Hanmer Springs as part of my University of Waikato's semester break. Hanmer Springs is a not what I thought that it was gong to be. The town has a few cute cafes, a tiny grocery store, and the springs. Now the springs are not as awesome as I thought that they were going to be... I mean, the entire town is named after these springs, they has got to be awesome right?
False. When they say springs, just think a few cement swimming pools loaded with hundreds of other fools who drove to a destination to go swimming pffffffff. To even get into the springs costs $18... PFFFFFF
So we ended up walking around looking at the mountains in the background and the cute cafes. After that we ended up doing a free tramp to a waterfall which was pretty sweet. All in all, I would not recommend that you waste time going to Hanmer Springs, unless playing loads to go swimming is your thing.
